Imphal: Manipur Congress Legislature Party leader Okram Ibobi Singh on Sunday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s rule at the Centre and in the state is “not permanent,” expressing confidence that peace and coexistence would return to Manipur with the revival of the Congress.
Addressing the 140th foundation day celebrations of the Congress party in Imphal, the three-time former chief minister said the BJP’s dominance would eventually be tested at the ballot box.
“BJP is not permanent. How long will they govern and dictate terms? Elections will decide,” Singh told party workers.
He alleged that the state’s administrative and financial health has deteriorated over the past three years, claiming that several government departments have become ineffective and the overall financial situation has nearly collapsed.
Singh said a progressive and harmonious society was possible only if the Congress returned to power both at the Centre and in Manipur.

According to him, peace and coexistence in the violence-hit state would follow only when the party is politically strengthened.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Keisham Meghachandra also addressed the event, stressing the importance of discipline and adherence to party ideology among leaders and workers.
He claimed that a Congress-led government alone could restore peace and drive development in the state.
Meghachandra further expressed confidence that the Congress would return to power in Manipur in the 2027 Assembly elections.
