Aizawl: The Mizoram government has approved a 4 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees, effective November 1, a senior official said on Tuesday.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the council of ministers chaired by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, he said.
With this revision, employees will now receive 44 per cent of their basic pay as DA, up from the existing 40 per cent. The cabinet has also approved an additional 2 per cent hike — raising the DA from 44 per cent to 46 per cent — which will be implemented from April 1 next year.
“While this is good news for state government employees, we still remain behind central government staff, who receive around 53 per cent of their basic pay as DA,” the official said.

In October last year, the Mizoram government had increased DA from 36 per cent to 40 per cent.
The council of ministers further decided to grant a special incentive allowance to police personnel in the assistant sub-inspector rank and below who are deployed on deputation with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
