Shillong: Two North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) students are in critical condition after a security guard, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, rammed his car into them near Gate No. 2 of the campus on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 7 pm when the guard reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
Before hitting the students, the car struck a parked scooter and then swerved toward the gate, police and university officials said.
The injured students—Daritngen Pohdukhei and Stephanie Shadap, both from the Chemistry Department—were walking along the road when the speeding car hit them.
