Guwahati: In a major push to strengthen public healthcare in Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), state-run power giant NTPC on Wednesday signed two Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs) with the Kokrajhar district administration to establish a dedicated burn ICU at Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) and extend nutritional aid to tuberculosis patients.
Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, NTPC Bongaigaon will fund and oversee the construction of a modern six-bed burn Intensive Care Unit at KMCH, equipped with advanced life-support systems, infection-control facilities, and specialised medical instruments.
The project, estimated to cost Rs. 1.47 crore, is expected to be completed within a year.

According to NTPC, the facility will significantly boost KMCH’s capacity to manage severe burn cases and provide tertiary-level care to patients from Kokrajhar and neighbouring districts in the BTR.
The tripartite agreement involves NTPC, the district administration, and KMCH.
The second MoA, valued at Rs. 13.44 lakh, focuses on providing nutritional support to 200 registered TB patients in the district for six months under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Each patient will receive monthly food and protein supplements aimed at aiding recovery and ensuring treatment adherence.
NTPC said the initiatives reflect its continued commitment to improving community health infrastructure and supporting government health missions in the region.
