Itanagar: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has released nearly Rs 7 crore for key development initiatives in Arunachal Pradesh during October, an official statement said on Tuesday.
Of the total amount, Rs 6.67 crore has been sanctioned under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS–Roads) for the improvement and realignment of the road from Nafra to the tourism centre at Makhu village, the statement said.
The 10.6-km project is expected to enhance regional connectivity, facilitate smoother transportation, and promote economic growth and tourism-related activities in the area, it added.
An additional Rs 30 lakh was sanctioned under the NEC scheme for the project ‘Commercial and Traditional Vegetable Crops under Polyhouse’ in the Jang area of Tawang district.

The initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for tribal households, the statement added.
The North Eastern Council is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region.
