Agartala: The National Investigation Agency (NIA), in coordination with Tripura Police, carried out a series of raids across Unakoti district on Tuesday as part of its probe into a suspected document forgery racket, officials said.
Superintendent of Police (Police Control) Rajdeep Deb confirmed that the operation was conducted by the NIA’s Ahmedabad branch after prior intimation to the state police.
“The NIA team conducted searches in different locations within Unakoti district today. However, details of the findings have not been shared with us yet,” Deb said.
According to intelligence sources, the raids targeted two residents — Paritosh Shil (45) of Bhagyapur under Kailashahar police station, and Ranu Pal (42) of Nidevi under Kumarghat police station.

Both are suspected of being linked to the preparation of forged documents.
Speaking to local reporters, Shil said NIA personnel arrived at his home around 4 am, searched the premises, and seized his mobile phone along with a bank passbook.
“They examined several papers and asked me to report at the NIA office in Ahmedabad on November 20,” he said, adding that the officials also showed him a photograph of a person he claimed not to recognise.
While the operation created a stir in the area, the NIA has not yet released an official statement on the outcome of the searches or the scope of the ongoing investigation.
