Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have arrested three militants, including a woman, linked to different banned outfits for their alleged involvement in extortion activities, police said on Tuesday.
An active cadre of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (K) was apprehended from Lamjao Makha Leikai in Kakching district on Sunday, a police statement said.
The arrested militant has been identified as Ningthoujam Inaocha (40). A .32 pistol with a magazine and three cartridges, along with Rs 41,200 in cash, was recovered from his possession.
In a separate operation the same day, police arrested a woman cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) from Khumbong Bazaar in Imphal West district.
She was identified as Khumanthem Promila Devi (22), police said.
“From her possession, a two-wheeler Suzuki Access bearing regd. no. MN06 SE 0325, a mobile phone and a money bag containing a PAN and an Aadhaar card were seized,” police said.
On Monday, security forces also arrested a member of the United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) from his residence at Langmeidong in Kakching district. The accused has been identified as Yumnam Arun Singh (27).
“Intelligence-based combing, cordon, and search operations are being conducted extensively across the state to trace those involved in extortion and other criminal activities,” the police statement added.

Meanwhile, a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the Melei Tampak area in Thoubal district on Monday.
The seized items include a self-loading rifle with magazine, a sniper rifle with magazine, a double-barrel rifle, a single-barrel rifle, three hand grenades, and 100 cartridges, police said.
