Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday announced a series of immediate measures to tackle public grievances over irregular water supply, inadequate healthcare facilities, and shortage of teachers during the CM Connect Programme held at Amlarem Civil Sub-Division in West Jaintia Hills District.
Responding to issues raised by residents, the chief minister directed the posting of a Medical Officer at Padu Dispensary, ordered a review of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes to ensure adequate water sources, and instructed departments to address teacher shortages and incomplete school infrastructure.
He also called for power connections to all Anganwadi Centres to improve service delivery in rural areas.
The CM Connect Programme, designed to promote direct interaction between citizens and the government, witnessed active participation from Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, C&RD Minister Sosthenes Sohtun, senior government officials, local leaders, and villagers from across the subdivision.
The event also marked the launch of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Amlarem Sub-Division.
Highlighting the importance of responsive governance, Sangma said the CM Connect initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.

He announced Rs. 10 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund for constructing a Cluster Level Federation building for women’s Self-Help Groups, underlining the state’s focus on promoting women’s entrepreneurship.
The chief minister further informed that CM Connect Centres will be established in all 56 blocks of Meghalaya as physical one-stop hubs for grievance redressal and access to government schemes.

The Amlarem programme, he added, is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots governance and ensure time-bound responses to public issues across Meghalaya.
