Guwahati: Assam is set to welcome a host of national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in the coming days for the inauguration of several transformative projects aimed at accelerating the state’s growth trajectory.

The projects to be inaugurated span key sectors, reflecting the state government’s focus on infrastructure, connectivity, and inclusive progress.

In the coming days, Assam will welcome a galaxy of national leaders, including Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji & Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji, to inaugurate transformative projects that will propel our growth to new heights — reflecting Assam’s rising stature in #NewIndia,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X.

Sarma, who met the Prime Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday (November 4), said he extended a formal invitation to PM Modi to inaugurate the new terminal building of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati and lay the foundation stone for the Rs 10,601 crore brownfield Ammonia-Urea complex at Namrup.

CM Sarma said, “Had the privilege to call upon Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji in New Delhi today. We have invited him to dedicate two major transformative projects to the people of Assam.”

The Chief Minister described the new LGBI Airport terminal as a “state-of-the-art project” that will transform Guwahati into a major aviation hub in the Northeast, capable of handling over 1.3 crore passengers annually.

He said the Namrup Ammonia-Urea complex will be a game changer for the region’s agriculture sector, ensuring a stable supply of fertilisers across the northeastern states.

“Grateful that Adarniya Modi Ji has kindly consented. We eagerly await his visit,” Sarma said in a post on X, expressing optimism that the projects will mark a new phase of growth and development for Assam.
