Imphal: Security forces have arrested two militants, including a woman, belonging to different banned outfits during separate operations in Imphal West and Imphal East districts, police said on Thursday.
According to police, a woman cadre of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was apprehended from Langol Game Village in Imphal West district on Wednesday. She has been identified as Ningthoujam Anita Devi (44).
Preliminary investigations revealed that she was allegedly involved in recruiting a girl from the Jiribam district into the militant organization.
Police said that a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were recovered from her possession.
In a separate operation, an active cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) outfit was nabbed from Wangkhei Andro Parking in Imphal East district on Tuesday. The cadre has been identified as Wahengbam Kiran Singh (45).
The statement said that intelligence-based combing, cordon, and search operations are being conducted extensively across the state to apprehend those involved in extortion and other criminal activities.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered four firearms during an operation in the Ngairangbam Maning Loukon area of Imphal West district on Wednesday.

The seized items included a modified .303 rifle with a magazine, two country-made single-barrel guns, a pistol with a magazine, two hand grenades without detonators, and several cartridges, it added.
