Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have arrested six militants belonging to different banned outfits, including a woman cadre, during multiple operations across the state on Sunday.
Arms, ammunition, and several incriminating materials were recovered during the raids, officials said.
According to police, the arrests were made from Kakching, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts.
The detained individuals are reportedly members of proscribed groups — the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), and People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
A police official said the militants were involved in various criminal activities such as intimidation, extortion, and forcible collection of money from civilians, government employees, and contractors.
“A car, several mobile phones, Aadhaar cards, and other incriminating documents have been seized from their possession,” the official added.
Security forces have intensified operations across the state, particularly in fringe and mixed-populated areas.
Police said 115 checkpoints have been set up in both hill and valley districts to monitor the movement of suspected individuals and vehicles.
To ensure the safe passage of essential goods, security escorts continue to accompany vehicles along the Imphal–Jiribam National Highway (NH-37).
Authorities said additional convoys have been deployed on sensitive stretches to prevent disruptions and maintain stability.

Police have also appealed to citizens to remain vigilant against misinformation and avoid sharing unverified content on social media.
“Uploading or circulating fake videos or posts will invite legal action,” a statement said, adding that people should verify any unconfirmed reports with the Central Control Room.
The police further urged those in possession of looted arms, ammunition, or explosives to surrender them immediately at the nearest police station or security post.
