Shillong: A man accused of stalking and sexually harassing multiple women in public areas across Shillong has been arrested after weeks of investigation, police said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Tamdorlang Risaw of Nongrah Block II, was apprehended from Mawsynram early Saturday in a coordinated operation led by the Officer-in-Charge of Mawsynram Police Station. His arrest follows a series of complaints filed by victims over the past few weeks.
According to police, multiple FIRs were lodged at Laitumkhrah Police Station, including two on October 15, in which women reported being harassed and followed by a man driving a black Bolero. The reports pointed to the same suspect and vehicle being involved in all the incidents.
Investigators revealed that the first complaint linked to Risaw dates back to May 2025, when he was seen near Don Bosco Square engaging in inappropriate behaviour.

Similar reports surfaced on September 17 along Dhankheti–Malki Road and again on September 23, when the accused allegedly stopped near two women at Don Bosco, Laitumkhrah, and acted obscenely before speeding away.
The most recent case was recorded on October 13 near Loreto Convent, where the driver of the same Bolero allegedly blocked a woman’s path and repeated the offence.
Following these repeated incidents, a district-wide manhunt was launched.
Police finally tracked down Risaw in Mawsynram and seized the Java-coloured Bolero used in the alleged crimes.
