GUWAHATI: The skies above Guwahati are poised for a captivating aerial display on October 15 as the Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrates its 91st anniversary. The Air Force Station Borjhar will serve as the canvas for choreographed performances, featuring a dazzling array of IAF aircraft.
The event will be hosted by Air Marshal SP Dharkar PVSM AVSM, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, and it is expected to be graced by a diverse congregation of civil, paramilitary, and defence dignitaries, all eagerly anticipating the aviation wonders that the IAF has in store.
At the heart of this grand celebration will be a stellar performance by the renowned Sarang Helicopter Display Team, known for their intricate aerial manoeuvres. The show will also feature other formidable aircraft, including the ALH, Chinook, Dornier, Su-30, and Rafale.
Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, PRO Defence, Guwahati, expressed his enthusiasm for the event by saying, “This occasion provides a rare opportunity to witness the Indian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to excellence from up close.”
Notably, on October 8, Air Marshal Dharkar, paid his respects to the valiant individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. He laid a wreath at the war memorial at Headquarters EAC in Shillong.
Air Marshal Dharkar also conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to all personnel and their families of the Eastern Air Command, urging them to continue their dedicated work, thus taking the Indian Air Force and the nation to greater heights.
The IAF, officially established on October 8, 1932, observes this date every year as Air Force Day. It is a day of celebration and remembrance, honouring the dedication and valour of those who safeguard our skies. The 91st-anniversary celebrations this year have been marked with equal fervour and pride at various air stations across the nation.
