Guwahati: Oil India Limited (OIL) and the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) have signed a 15-year Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) to ensure uninterrupted supply of natural gas to NEEPCO’s Assam Gas Based Power Station (AGBPS) in Bokuloni, Dibrugarh district.
Under the new long-term pact, OIL will supply 1.4 million metric standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD) of natural gas to the power station — a key source of electricity for Assam and the wider Northeast.
The agreement replaces the earlier 10-year deal between the two public sector enterprises and underscores their continued partnership in strengthening regional energy security.
In a statement, OIL said the renewed commitment reflects its confidence in its reserve base and capability to sustain gas production from domestic sources.
The collaboration, it added, aligns with the shared vision of delivering affordable and clean energy to the region.
The AGBPS, the largest gas-based power plant in Assam, plays a crucial role in meeting the state’s electricity demand and supporting its industrial and economic growth.
