Guwahati: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday extended greetings and best wishes to the people of Assam on the occasion of Durga Puja.
The governor said Durga Puja is a celebration of the eternal triumph of good over evil, light over darkness and hope over despair.
“As the divine Mother descends to bless us, she brings with her the essence of strength, compassion and unwavering faith,” he said.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “As the auspicious #DurgaPuja festivities begin with Maa Durga’s arrival for her yearly sojourn, I wish the people Happy Puja & pray to Maa for the State’s continued welfare. Jay Maa Durga.”
Meanwhile, the Assam government will provide a financial grant of Rs 10,000 each to 7,817 Durga Puja committees across the state to enable the festival to be celebrated in a befitting manner.

Besides, the government also released the September salary of its employees in advance in view of the Durga Puja festivities.
