Imphal: Sanajaoba Leishemba, the lone Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur, has lodged a police complaint after being falsely linked to the Meitei organisation Arambai Tenggol on social media.
According to the complaint, filed on his behalf by personal secretary Maisnam Shivadutta, a user on X identified as Shalini Shukla posted a photograph of the MP with a caption suggesting that he was a leader of the controversial organisation.
Leishemba described the post as “misleading” and damaging to his reputation.
The complaint, addressed to the state police chief and the Cyber Crime Unit, states that the post was connected to the recent ambush on Assam Rifles personnel at Nambol Sabal Leikai.

It noted that the tweet “includes the photograph of Hon’ble MP (R/S), Manipur implying he was the leader of Arambai Tenggol,” and called it an act of character assassination.
The MP’s office urged authorities to investigate the matter and take necessary action, emphasizing that such posts tarnish the image of public leaders and are “in very bad taste.”
