Guwahati: Security forces in the Northeast made two major drug hauls this week, seizing narcotics valued at nearly Rs 30 crore in separate operations in Assam and Mizoram.
In Karbi Anglong district of Assam, police arrested two persons after recovering marijuana worth around Rs 8 crore from a truck on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel stepped up checks in Dillai under Bokajan sub-division and intercepted the vehicle.
A search led to the discovery of 148 packets containing 147.25 kg of ganja concealed in a hidden compartment.
The accused, hailing from Rajasthan and Haryana, were taken into custody, and a case has been registered, officials said.
In a separate operation along the Indo-Myanmar border, the Assam Rifles seized 2.46 kg of heroin valued at approximately Rs 20 crore in Champhai district of Mizoram.

Acting on intelligence inputs, troops launched a raid near the Tiau river in the Melbuk road area on Tuesday.
On spotting the personnel, two suspects abandoned the consignment and fled across the border into Myanmar.
The seized contraband and the vehicle used for transportation were handed over for further legal proceedings, the Assam Rifles said in a statement.
