AGARTALA: Tripura government announced plans to expand the state’s healthcare and medical education infrastructure, with a focus on homoeopathy, ayurvedic, and allopathic disciplines.
Speaking at the inauguration of the state’s first block public health unit at Kalyanpur Community Health Centre in Khowai district, Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed the government’s intention to establish a homoeopathy and ayurvedic college in the state.
Highlighting the importance of alternative medicine systems in promoting overall well-being, Chief Minister Saha also informed that another medical college is slated to be set up in Ambassa, located in the Dhalai district.
“We already have dental and nursing colleges, and we plan to open homoeopathy and ayurvedic colleges as well. With determination, anything is possible. Another medical college will be established in Ambassa. Trauma centres are crucial, and we have opened three trauma centres in three places, with one more under construction,” Chief Minister Saha told the press.
The government’s plans to bolster healthcare facilities at the grassroots level was further stressed with Chief Minister Saha’s announcement of plans to establish 18 block public health units initially, with Kalyanpur being the first of these units. These units are envisioned to serve as hubs for providing essential healthcare services to local communities.
Saha underlined the significance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure at the block level, stating, “We aim to reduce the pressure on sub-divisional and state hospitals, ensuring people’s well-being.” He also added that these block public health units would offer emergency facilities, enhancing the state’s preparedness for medical emergencies.
In addition to the inauguration of the block public health unit, Chief Minister Saha later unveiled the operation theatre complex at Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital in Khowai district.
