Guwahati: Tezpur University is in talks with Indian embassy officials in Vladivostok to establish a joint Indo-Russian think tank aimed at shaping future educational strategies.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, accompanied by Director of International Affairs Prof. Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar, held discussions with Deputy Chief of Mission Nikhilesh Giri, Consul General Siddharta Gowrav, and other senior diplomats during the visit.
According to Prof. Singh, the proposed centre would serve as a dedicated policy and research hub, crafting a roadmap for academic growth across the Asia-Pacific.
By pooling India and Russia’s longstanding traditions of higher education and innovation, the initiative seeks to promote collaborative research and knowledge exchange.

The think tank would focus on critical areas such as aviation engineering, energy, oil and gas, environment, and digital transformation.
Its goal, university officials said, is to align educational strategies with regional development priorities while deepening Indo-Russian cooperation in innovation and research.
The Consulate General of India highlighted that the initiative builds on Tezpur University’s earlier engagements at the Eastern Economic Forum, where partnerships with Russian counterparts began taking shape.
