Shillong: Meghalaya Police on Friday submitted a detailed chargesheet running into 790 pages before the Judicial Magistrate First Class at Sohra Sub-Division in connection with the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi.
The case, investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), has so far led to the arrest of Raja’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, her alleged partner Raj Kushwaha, along with Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi and Vishal Singh Chauhan.
According to investigators, Sonam and Raj were the key conspirators behind the crime, with the others assisting in its execution.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem informed that another supplementary chargesheet will be filed once additional forensic examinations are completed.
Three more individuals—property dealer Silome James, building owner Lokendra Tomar, and security guard Balbir Ahirbar—are also named in the case for allegedly destroying or concealing evidence.
They had been taken into custody earlier but are presently out on bail.
The case traces back to May 21, when Raja and his wife Sonam travelled from Indore to Shillong for their honeymoon and later visited Sohra.
By May 26, both were reported missing, prompting an extensive search operation involving police, disaster response forces, trekking groups, and local villagers.
After days of coordinated search efforts, Raja’s body was eventually discovered on June 2 in a deep gorge at Arliang Riat Kunongrim, near Wei Sawdong in Sohra.
