GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that by 2026, the state will generate over 300 MW of solar energy.
CM Sarma wrote of X, “Over 300 MW of Assam’s power needs will soon come from solar. Our state will play a key role in generating energy from renewable sources.”
The Assam government has planned a number of solar power plants, including 25 MW Namrup Solar PV Project which is scheduled to be completed by December 2024.
The 70 MW Sonbeel Floating Solar PV Project will be completed by February 2025, and the 100 MW Tezpur Solar PV Project will be commissioned by April 2026.
Similarly, 100 MW Batadrava Solar PV Project will be completed by November 2025 and the 40 MW Golaghat Solar PV Project will be completed by September 2025.
The announcement comes after Assam started to witness a rise demand in the demand of power supply.
