Shillong: The Meghalaya Cycling Association (MCA) recently held a two-day trial to select athletes for the 2027 National Games, which Meghalaya will host.
The tryouts, held on August 15-16, focused on the Mountain Bike (MTB) category and saw over 50 cyclists from across the state compete.
According to MCA President Lenin Bareh, a second round of trials for the Road Bike category will be held on October 2. These trials are open to athletes between the ages of 17 and 25.
Bareh noted that the association will provide bicycles for all participants, encouraging athletes from other sports to participate. “We want to encourage athletes from other sports as well, since they may possess the potential to excel in cycling,” he said.
