Guwahati: Prominent Assamese film director and producer Pulak Gogoi passed away on Saturday morning at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Pulak Gogoi was one of the finest filmmakers in Assam. He was also a well known painter.
His feature film Railor Alir Dubori Ban had bagged the National Award in 1992 for Best Feature Film in Assamese.
Gogoi was 85 year old, and was suffering from multiple ailments, and was undergoing treatment for the last few years.
He was undergoing dialysis as his kidneys were not performing well, and his family members said his Serum Creatnine level was high. He also had cardiac issues as well.
Gogoi had directed and produced several Assamese films, including Khoj (1975), Srimati Mahimamoyee (1979), Sadori (1982), Sendur (1985), Suruj (1985), Railor Aalir Dubori Bon (1993), Morom Nodir Gabhoru Chat (1999), Patni (2003) and Momtaaj (2013).
