Guwahati: Silent Scream of the Evening Sky, the latest novel by Prof. Gour Gopal Banik, Dean of the School of Management and Commerce at Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), was released on Monday at the university campus.
The event was attended by faculty, students, and invited guests, with former Rabindranath Thakur Viswavidyalaya Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amalendu Chakraborty as chief guest.
Praising the work, Prof. Chakraborty said the novel captured a wide spectrum of emotions. GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kandarpa Das lauded the poignancy of the title and commended Prof. Banik’s artistic vision.
An accomplished academic and writer, Prof. Banik has previously authored several novels, including Master of the Fate (January 2025).
He is also known for his work as a motivational speaker and international bodybuilding competitor.

With more than three decades of teaching experience in accountancy, taxation, auditing, and intellectual property rights, he has held key positions at Gauhati Commerce College and Gauhati University’s Institute of Distance and Open Learning.
Prof. Banik’s accolades include the “Best Paper Award” at Kurukshetra University’s International Gita Seminar (2023), the “Best Teacher and Researcher in Accountancy Award” in Thailand (2024), and the “Research Excellence Award” from Govt. Digvijay Autonomous P.G. College, Chhattisgarh (2024).
GCU officials said the launch underscored the university’s commitment to promoting the creative and scholarly achievements of its faculty and students.
