Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) under the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking, seizing over 3,700 kg of ganja valued at Rs. 3.67 crore since the beginning of 2025.
In connection with these operations, 126 individuals involved in smuggling have been apprehended so far, according to a statement issued by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma.
Sharma noted that the RPF has remained vigilant in monitoring rail premises and trains across its jurisdiction, actively working towards a drug-free transport network.
From July 17 to 24 alone, operations conducted at major stations such as Agartala, Katihar, Bagdogra, Rangapara North, Lumding, and Guwahati led to the seizure of 168.67 kg of ganja, worth an estimated Rs. 16.83 lakh, and the arrest of two suspects.

Alongside the narcotics haul, RPF personnel also confiscated 475 bottles of illicit liquor worth Rs. 1.05 lakh, detaining five individuals involved in illegal alcohol transport.
In a parallel crackdown during the same period, RPF teams also nabbed seven persons accused of stealing passenger belongings.
Among the recovered items were six mobile phones, a laptop, and Rs. 1.19 lakh in cash.
