Guwahati: Football fever is set to grip Assam’s Kokrajhar as the district prepares to host the prestigious Durand Cup Tournament 2025.
The 134th edition of the football tournament will be held from July 23 to August 23 across six venues— Kolkata, Kokrajhar, Shillong, Imphal, and Jamshedpur.
The trophy display ceremony of the Durand Cup will be held at the Bodofa Auditorium in Kokrajhar on July 15. Following the ceremony, the iconic trophies will embark on a Trophy Tour across the Kokrajhar district, allowing wider public engagement and building excitement for the upcoming matches.
Kokrajhar is hosting Asia’s oldest football tourney for the third consecutive time from 27 July 27 to August 16, 2025. The Indian Army, along with the support of the spirited leadership of Bodoland Territorial Council, will host this elite tournament at the Sports Authority of India Stadium, Kokrajhar.
This august ceremony will be graced by Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council, Pramod Boro; Nandita Gorlosa, Minister for Sports & Youth Welfare; Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Minister for Welfare of Bodoland; Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding Gajraj Corps; Major General Rohin Bawa, General Officer Commanding Red Horns Division; and Major General Rajesh Arun Moghe, Vice Chairman Durand Cup Organising Committee.
President Droupadi Murmu on July 4 unveiled the trophies of the Durand Cup Tournament 2025 at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi.
Organised by the Eastern Command of the Indian Army on behalf of the three Services, the tournament features matchups between Services teams and some of India’s top football clubs.

In recent editions, the Durand Cup has also witnessed international participation, with Army teams from neighbouring countries joining the competition.
Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and Shillong in Meghalaya were added as hosts last year.
