Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body representing the Kuki community in the state, announced on Saturday that no Kuki-Zo legislators will take part in the formation of the new government in Manipur.
The announcement follows a joint meeting held on Friday at the KIM Secretariat in Bijang, Churachandpur district. According to a statement issued by the organisation, the decision was made unanimously by leaders and representatives from various Kuki community bodies.
Participants in the meeting included members from KIM’s regional units, the Kuki Students’ Organisation (General Headquarters), Kuki Christian Leaders Forum, Kuki Women’s Union, Kuki Chiefs Association, and other major community stakeholders.
Reiterating a firm stance, KIM stated that the Kuki-Zo people will not, under any circumstances, compromise on their land, culture, identity, or political, social, and economic rights.
“This resolution reflects the unified political will and aspirations of the Kuki-Zo people and is binding on all Kuki-Zo representatives and affiliated organisations,” the statement read.
