Agartala: A high-level multi-agency counter-terrorism exercise was carried out at the Tripura Secretariat in Agartala on the evening of July 4, aimed at strengthening preparedness and coordination among security forces.
The exercise brought together personnel from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), as well as the state’s Police Dog and Bomb Squads.
During the drill, security teams swiftly cordoned off the Secretariat complex, conducted room-to-room clearance operations, and neutralised a simulated terrorist threat.
One of the key components of the operation included a mock hostage rescue inside the Secretariat building. The Dog and Bomb Squads were deployed to search and secure the area, ensuring it was free from explosive threats.
Officials said the exercise was designed to evaluate and enhance the interoperability of various agencies during high-risk scenarios involving key government infrastructure.
It also served to assess existing operational protocols and test the readiness of specialised units in handling emergencies.
The joint drill highlighted the commitment of Tripura’s security apparatus to maintaining robust security mechanisms and public safety through coordinated crisis response efforts.
