Guwahati: A 72-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her caretaker and his wife in Guwahati’s Kharghuli area, city police revealed on Thursday. The couple has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Amitabh Basumatary said the victim, identified as Bandana Das, was found dead at her residence on Wednesday.
She had been living alone following her husband’s death, though her brother’s family resided nearby.
The caretaker and his wife, who stayed on the same premises, had been assisting her.
“During the course of the investigation, we discovered that the caretaker and his wife were involved in the murder. Both were taken into custody from the same compound,” said Basumatary.
According to the police, the caretaker confessed during interrogation that he killed Das in a fit of rage after repeated arguments.
