Actor Deepika Padukone is set to become the first Indian to receive a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, an honour that marks a significant milestone in her global career.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame, announced the news on Wednesday night through its official Instagram account.
Padukone has been included in the Walk of Fame Class of 2026, joining a prestigious lineup of international talent selected across various categories including Motion Pictures, Television, Live Theatre/Performance, Radio, Recording, and Sports Entertainment.
“We are honoured to welcome you to the Walk of Fame Class of 2026!” the post read, as the Chamber unveiled the names chosen by its selection panel.
Alongside Padukone, the Class of 2026 includes acclaimed actors Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Marion Cotillard, Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, and Demi Moore. Filmmakers Chris Columbus and the late Tony Scott will also be honoured.
The television segment features names such as The Office creator Greg Daniels, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Gordon Ramsay, Bradley Whitford, and Noah Wyle.
Established as one of Los Angeles’ most visited landmarks, the Hollywood Walk of Fame features more than 2,700 stars embedded in the sidewalks of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, each celebrating individuals who have made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
Padukone joins a select group of Indian-origin artists to be honoured.
In 2011, celebrated conductor Zubin Mehta was awarded a star, with his 2,434th star inaugurated in a ceremony that included a tribute by Hollywood icon Kirk Douglas.
Earlier, Sabu Dastagir, a pioneering Indian-origin actor from the 1940s, was also recognised on the Walk of Fame.
Since her breakout role in the 2007 film Om Shanti Om, Padukone has delivered a string of hits, including Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Chhapaak, and Gehraiyaan.
She made her Hollywood debut opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017) and was named among TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2018.
In 2022, she served on the main competition jury at the Cannes Film Festival and also received the TIME100 Impact Award.
Currently, Padukone is working on several upcoming projects, including a yet-untitled film directed by Atlee, where she stars opposite South Indian superstar Allu Arjun.
