Itanagar: Commander Ronie Chowpoo, hailing from Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first officer from the state to command a frontline warship in the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet.
The announcement, made in an official statement on Saturday, was hailed as a moment of pride and inspiration for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
Commissioned into the executive branch of the Navy in 2008, Commander Chowpoo is a first-generation naval officer and a specialist in communication and electronic warfare.
His illustrious career includes service on various frontline warships, including guided missile destroyers and frigates, as well as significant operational and staff roles at Naval Headquarters, Fleet Headquarters, and other strategic institutions.
An alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, and the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Commander Chowpoo’s journey reflects exceptional determination and excellence.
