NEW DELHI: The stage is set for the largest gathering of land forces in the Indo-Pacific region as New Delhi gears up to host the 13th biannual Indo-Pacific Armies Chiefs Conference (IPACC), the 47th annual Indo-Pacific Army Management Seminar (IPAMS), and the 9th Senior Enlisted Forum. The much-anticipated events will take place at the prestigious Manekshaw Center from September 25-27.
This year’s theme, “Together for Peace: Sustaining Peace and Stability in the Indo-Pacific Region”, speaks volumes about the intent and spirit of the conference. The series of events aims to foster mutual understanding, dialogue, and lasting friendships, enhancing peace and stability in the region.
The attendees, which include senior land commanders from across the globe, will engage in insightful plenary sessions and focused breakout sessions. Key topics to be discussed range from peacekeeping operations and humanitarian assistance to leadership development and empowering women.
The grandeur of the event will kick off with an opening ceremony at 9:30 am on September 26. Before that, at 9 am, a joint press conference will be held featuring General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, and General Randy George, US Army Vice Chief of Staff. Entry to the ceremony and the press conference is exclusive, with attendees required to register with the United States Embassy.
The events promise lively discussions enriched by the experiences and insights of distinguished guest speakers.
A historical journey that began with just nine nations in 1977 in Honolulu, Hawaii, IPAMS has grown exponentially over the years. By 2017, 31 nations participated in Seoul, Korea. The tradition of IPACC being co-hosted every two years by the US Army and the hosting country has only enhanced its significance. Marking its long-standing tradition, IPAMS remains the longest-running land forces conference held every year.
In a move to diversify perspectives and discussions, the Senior Enlisted Forum (SELF) was integrated into the conference in 2014. This allows senior enlisted members to engage in dialogue and share experiences, adding depth and richness to the conversations.
This conference, with its growing attendance and impactful discussions, underscores the commitment of the participating nations to foster peace, understanding, and mutual collaboration. As the Indo-Pacific region witnesses increasing strategic importance, such engagements reiterate the resolve of its nations to work “together for peace”.
