Barpeta: The 11th International Day of Yoga was marked with fervour in Barpeta on Wednesday, led by Assam Cabinet Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass.

The event witnessed active participation from officials and residents, emphasizing the unifying spirit of yoga.

The celebration began with the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” highlighted the intrinsic link between individual well-being and environmental harmony, aligning with India’s G20 motto: “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

Local yoga instructors conducted a one-hour session, with Dass, the District Commissioner of Barpeta, and other senior district officials joining the practice.

The session aimed to inspire attendees to embrace yoga as a daily habit for physical and mental wellness.

The program also featured an award ceremony honouring winners of a district-level yoga competition, which drew 172 participants across four age groups.

In his address, Dass underscored the universal appeal of yoga, likening its benefits to recharging a mobile phone. “Yoga rejuvenates both mind and body. It is a practice that unites individuals worldwide,” he said.

Encouraging consistent practice, Dass urged participants to integrate yoga into their daily lives and strive for excellence in mastering its techniques.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to make yoga a cornerstone of personal and community well-being, reflecting its growing significance in fostering global harmony.
