Guwahati: Childhood asthma, chronic cough, and other respiratory illnesses are rising at an alarming rate and are now among the most common reasons for pediatric visits across India.
In response to this growing crisis, Mid-Term RESPICON 2025 will be held in Guwahati on June 7-8 at Hotel Vivanta, bringing together the nation’s leading pediatric respiratory experts under one roof.
This prestigious conference is being organized by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics – National Respiratory Chapter, in collaboration with the IAP Assam State Branch, under the theme “Tiny Lungs, Big Challenges.”
The event will be graced by leading national experts in pediatric pulmonology, including Dr. S.S. Rawat, Chairperson, IAP National Respiratory Chapter; Dr. Narayan Modi, Honorary Secretary, IAP-NRC.
The conference is being led by Dr. Mrityunjay Pao, organizing chairperson, and Dr. Partha Pratim Bora, organizing secretary, who are both senior pediatricians and passionate advocates for improving child respiratory health in the region.
“This is a once-in-a-decade academic event for Northeast India,” said Dr. Bora.
He added, “The burden of asthma and allergic airway diseases in children is no longer limited to metros. We must update our clinical approach, and more importantly, raise awareness among parents and caregivers.”
The conference will feature hands-on workshops, interactive case discussions, and evidence-based clinical updates tailored for practicing pediatricians.

It is also expected to create broader public awareness about the early recognition and proper management of childhood respiratory conditions — illnesses that are often missed until they become severe.
Let us come together to breathe new life into pediatric care. Because healthy lungs mean a healthier future.
