Imphal: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan met with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Monday to discuss key issues affecting the state, including border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border, relief and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), and the overall law and order situation.

According to an official statement, the meeting was also attended by Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Manipur Chief Secretary P.K. Singh, the state’s Security Advisor, and other senior officials.

The discussion focused on ongoing relief efforts for IDPs in both the hill and valley regions. Officials reviewed current facilities, assessed rehabilitation progress, and evaluated long-term resettlement plans.

Progress on border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border and the broader security scenario in the state were also reviewed during the high-level deliberations.

Earlier in the day, the Union Home Secretary and the IB Director visited two relief camps in Churachandpur—Dorcas Veng and Sadhbhavna Mandap at Tuibong—where they interacted directly with displaced residents. At Dorcas Veng, Govind Mohan inaugurated a crèche for children and launched a women’s tailoring programme, while at Sadhbhavna Mandap, he opened a combined crèche and children’s library.

During the visits, the team inspected infrastructure, reviewed relief materials, and engaged with caretakers and residents to understand their needs and concerns. They assured continued central support for all displaced families.

In a gesture of encouragement, 15 students from both camps who successfully passed the 2025 HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations—five from Dorcas Veng and 10 from Tuibong—were felicitated by the Union Home Secretary with certificates of appreciation.

The Union Home Secretary was accompanied by senior state officials including DGP Rajiv Singh and Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur Dharun Kumar S.
