Guwahati: Topcem Cement, one of Northeast India’s premier cement brands, in partnership with Mission Smile—a government-registered medical charitable trust—has proudly announced the commencement of its 8th ‘Free Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery’ camp in Guwahati.
This year’s camp will provide 25 children from Assam with life-changing cleft lip and palate surgeries at the Mission Smile Guwahati Comprehensive Cleft Lip Centre, located at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital.
The surgeries, which began on May 20, 2025, will continue throughout the week and are being overseen by a team of leading medical professionals.
This initiative is a testament to Topcem Cement’s ongoing dedication to enhancing the lives of underprivileged children affected by cleft deformities, giving them a renewed opportunity for a brighter future.
Dr. Anil Kapur, Sr. President of Sales & Marketing at Meghalaya Cements Ltd., shared, “Since we launched this initiative in 2018, Topcem Cement has enabled more than 165 cleft surgeries for children from Assam and Meghalaya. This year, we are honoured to support 25 children in Assam. Our commitment to making a positive social impact remains strong, and we look forward to continuing our support for such meaningful causes.”
The camp provides free consultations, surgeries, and comprehensive post-operative care. The initiative not only delivers essential medical intervention but also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of early treatment for cleft lip and palate conditions, ensuring that children who might otherwise lack access to care receive the help they need.
Mission Smile, working closely with the governments of Assam and Meghalaya, has played a crucial role in delivering cleft care across both states.
Over the past decade, Mission Smile has facilitated more than 25,000 surgeries, with over 1,200 procedures performed each year.
