Agartala: In a continued effort to strengthen ties with the veteran community, the Indian Army organised an extensive Ex-Servicemen Outreach Program at the Agartala Military Station, drawing participation from former servicemen across several districts of Tripura, including Gomti, North, South, West, Unakoti, Dhalai, and Khowai.
The initiative was aimed at addressing long-pending concerns of ex-servicemen, particularly issues related to pensions, documentation, and administrative discrepancies.
The event also served as a platform to disseminate updated information on welfare schemes and policies rolled out by the Ministry of Defence and the Government of India.
Approximately 300 veterans, including Veer Naris (wives of gallantry award winners) and war widows, attended the event.
To facilitate direct support and resolution of grievances, the Army set up multiple facilitation cells, including a job enrollment desk and an ECHS medical assistance unit.
The medical cell, staffed with trained healthcare professionals, provided basic health check-ups, medicines, and consultations for ex-servicemen, particularly those from remote areas.
The Station Commander, who presided over the event, personally interacted with the attendees, acknowledging their sacrifices and contributions to the nation.

In his address, he emphasised the importance of continued engagement with veterans and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to their welfare and integration into civilian life.
The outreach programme not only provided immediate support services but also reinforced the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to the dignity, well-being, and inclusion of its veterans, upholding the core values of service, respect, and unity that define the armed forces.
