Guwahati: As part of the International Nursing Week 2025 celebrations, a community health and awareness camp was held at Santaneer–Home for the Elderly in Amerigog, 8 Mile, Khanapara.
The event was organised jointly by Santaneer, a not-for-profit organisation, the Bhagawati SriSri Chandika Devi Temple Unnayan Society, and the nursing team from Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati.
The initiative aimed to promote health awareness and provide essential medical support to the elderly and local residents.
Free health screenings were conducted, focusing on early detection of chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
Leading the outreach was Pinaki Bayan, Head of Nursing at Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati.
Under her guidance, the team conducted an interactive life skills workshop, which included demonstrations on proper hand hygiene, Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques, and first aid practices such as bleeding control and basic fracture management.
The program saw active participation from various sections of the community, including students and faculty from 8th Mile Lower Primary School, A1 College, Khanapara, and the Department of Public Administration at Assam Don Bosco University, Sonapur.
Caregivers and local residents also took part, turning the event into a platform for shared learning and empowerment.
A highlight of the day was the felicitation of Santaneer’s elderly residents.
The nursing team presented tokens of appreciation and utility gifts, underscoring a message of dignity, compassion, and collective care for senior citizens.
Through such initiatives, Santaneer continues to uphold its commitment to holistic community development.
The organisation remains active in healthcare, livelihood, environmental education, and lifelong learning—building a strong foundation of service and inclusion in the region.
