Itanagar: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) called on Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday and presented a 10-point charter of demands.

The association issued a one-month ultimatum to the state government to address the pressing demands.

The organisation cautioned that it would be forced to initiate a state-wide democratic movement if the government fails to meet its demands.

Taking to X, CM Khandu wrote, “A fruitful interaction with the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) led by President Jamru Ruja, in the presence of Minister Mama Natung.”

He said, “The government remains committed to the development of all tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. We listened to the concerns raised by ANYA and assured them of all possible support in addressing community issues.”

“Appreciate ANYA’s inclusive vision and tireless efforts for a united, progressive Arunachal,” the chief minister said.

The association called for the immediate resolution of the long-standing Arunachal-Assam boundary dispute, particularly in Nyishi-populated areas.

The association pointed to ongoing encroachment and illegal activities along the border, urging the state government to take decisive, time-bound action to protect the state’s territorial integrity.

ANYA’s second major demand is the de-reservation of forest areas to permit human settlement, particularly in regions such as the Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Durpang Reserve Forest, and Pakke Tiger Reserve.

The All Nyishi Youth Association also presented a range of other significant demands to the Chief Minister. These included the immediate termination of Dr. Moji Jini, the Director of Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), for allegedly occupying the post illegally post-retirement.

Furthermore, ANYA called for a swift resolution to the long-standing Namsai land dispute, alongside action against authorities accused of negligence in the matter.

The association also emphasized the need for the early implementation of a district-wise quota system within the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).

Demands for equitable distribution of state funds and the expansion of the state’s tourist circuit were also put forth.

Additionally, ANYA sought an amendment to the Arunachal Pradesh District-Based Entrepreneurs and Professionals (Incentives, Development and Promotion) Act, 2015.

In terms of administrative matters, the association requested the relocation of the Chief Engineer (Central) Division-A office to the PWD Commissioner’s office at Yachuli.
