GUWAHATI: A grand display fo Assam’s rich cultural heritage during the G20 dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu stole the show at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday. The event, part of the G20 World Leaders Summit, featured an array of traditional performances and musical renditions from the state that captivated a global audience.
“During the G20 dinner hosted at Bharat Mandapam, I was deeply moved by the showcase of Assam’s rich culture to the global audience. The inclusion of Srimanta Sankardev’s Borgeet – ‘Suna Suna Re Sura’ – and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s ‘Bistirno Parore’ in the musical repertoire for esteemed dignitaries beautifully conveyed the message of humanism,” wrote Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on a popular micro-blogging website.
The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt gratitude to President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the entire organising team for their thoughtful recognition of Assam’s cultural heritage.
Sarma also had the opportunity to engage with prominent leaders during the G20 dinner. He met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and held discussions on various matters of mutual interest.
“I was also honored to meet the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong. I got an opportunity to discuss Assam’s role in strengthening the Bharat-Singapore strategic partnership,” Sarma wrote on his social media acount.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister had a cordial interaction with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during the same dinner event.
The G20 dinner hosted by President Murmu was attended by a total of 170 special invitees, including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Modi, former President Ram Nath Kovind, and former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.
In addition to foreign leaders and heads of delegates, the event was graced by the presence of chief ministers from all Indian states, cabinet and state ministers, secretaries from the Central government, and numerous other distinguished guests.
The G20 World Leaders Summit, a prestigious international gathering, is taking place from September 9 to 10 in the capital city, New Delhi.
