Imphal: In a significant breakthrough, Manipur Police apprehended two active members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) on April 29.
The arrested individual has been identified as Khomdram Ranjita Devi, also known as Ichan.
The 28-year-old is a resident of Kwaksiphai Mayai Leikai in Bishnupur District. During the operation, police also seized one mobile phone from her possession.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested KCP (PWG) member was actively involved in extortion activities and making monetary demands from the general public, local businessmen, and shopkeepers in the Thoubal area.
Her arrest is considered a major step in curbing the unlawful activities of the insurgent group in the region.
In a separate operation, Manipur Police have apprehended an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon group) in a successful operation conducted on Tuesday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Yumkhaibam Ronaldo Meitei. The 23-year-old is a resident of Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai Maning Leirak in Imphal East District.
The arrest was made at Sekmai Bazaar, near the Forest Office Gate, under the jurisdiction of Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West District.
During the operation, police also seized one mobile phone from Meitei’s possession.

Initial investigations have revealed that the arrested KCP (Noyon) cadre was involved in extortion activities in the region.
The arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of Manipur Police to maintain peace and security in the state by cracking down on insurgent elements.
