Aizawl: The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) on Tuesday announced the results of Class 10 board examinations, with an overall pass percentage of 76.68%. This marks a 3.31% improvement over last year’s figure of 73.37%.
Out of 18,946 students who appeared for the exams held between February and March this year, 14,591 successfully cleared the board exams.
Among them were 10,071 girls, but boys once again outshone their female counterparts for the fourth consecutive year.
Male students recorded a pass percentage of 77.86%, compared to 75.63% among female students.
Performance trends also showed disparity among different school categories.
Deficit schools — institutions that are privately managed but receive government funding — led the performance chart with a remarkable pass rate of 92.62%.
In comparison, private schools recorded an 85.54% pass rate, while government-run institutions lagged behind with a pass percentage of just 68%.
The merit list featured 24 top-performing students, including 10 girls.
Topping the list was P.C. Lalthakimi of K.D. High School, Aizawl, who secured an impressive 95.8% (479 out of 500 marks).
The second rank was jointly held by two students — Isak M.S. Dawngkima from the government-run Mizo High School and Malsawmkima Chawngthu from CLS Academy — both scoring 95%. Ricky Lalnunfela from St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Aizawl, secured the third rank with 94.8%.

Among the 18,946 examinees, 4,355 students, including 2,418 girls, did not pass.
Meanwhile, 1,343 students passed with distinction, 3,763 achieved first division, 5,785 secured second division, and 3,636 students passed in third division.
A total of 107 schools recorded a perfect 100% pass rate, while 13 schools failed to register a single successful candidate, highlighting the stark performance gap across institutions.
