Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court was placed under heightened security on Tuesday morning following a bomb threat received via email.
Law enforcement agencies launched an immediate search operation after the alarming message was reported.
According to the police, the email threatened a blast within the court premises.
“As soon as we received the threat message, a team was dispatched to the high court. Experts are meticulously inspecting every corner of the premises. So far, nothing suspicious has been found, and we strongly suspect it to be a hoax,” a senior police officer said.
Further details will only emerge once the search operation concludes, the officer added.
A high court official disclosed that the email originated from an unknown organisation calling itself the ‘Madras Tigers.’
The sender threatened to destroy the entire court building, prompting an immediate response from authorities.
“Police teams are conducting a comprehensive search operation using specialised equipment to ensure the safety of the premises,” the official stated.

Despite the threatening message, the high court’s routine operations remained uninterrupted.
Judges continued hearing cases as scheduled, and the court’s functioning proceeded without hindrance, according to the official.
Authorities are treating the matter seriously and are investigating the source of the email to determine the credibility of the threat.
