In his post on X, he wrote, “Adarniya Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, thank you so much for your Bohag Bihu wishes. Your many visits to Assam during the new year celebrations have always brought immense joy to the people of the state.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his greetings via X, saying, “Warm greetings to our sisters and brothers of Assam on the occasion of Bohag Bihu. May the joy of welcoming the Assamese New Year vibrating on the banks of the Brahmaputra invite prosperity and well-being for everyone.”
Sarma thanked him, noting the peace and prosperity achieved under Shah’s guidance.
Bohag Bihu, or Rongali Bihu, is the most significant of the three Bihu festivals in Assam.
It is more than a celebration — it embodies the cultural essence and emotional core of the Assamese people.
The festive spirit has enveloped the state, with communities organising vibrant events, including traditional dance performances, music festivals, and cultural showcases.
Villages retain the festival’s rustic charm, with celebrations rooted in tradition, while urban areas embrace the joy of returning to cultural roots amidst modern life.
As offices and schools close for the occasion, families reunite to revel in the season’s bounty, underscoring the enduring connection between people, nature, and heritage.
