Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has called on power developers in the state to explore smaller hydropower projects to bolster Arunachal’s energy generation capacity.
Speaking during the eighth steering committee meeting of the Hydropower Development Department in Tawang, Khandu highlighted the untapped potential of the state’s tributaries, capable of generating between 100 and 300 megawatts of power.
Khandu suggested that Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs), currently focused on large-scale projects, could diversify by simultaneously developing smaller, feasible projects.
“With men and machinery already deployed at the sites, taking on additional smaller projects should be manageable,” he said.
During the meeting, the chief minister reviewed progress on 13 hydropower projects across the state.
He emphasized the financial implications of delays, stating, “Each day’s delay in execution costs us ₹9 crore in lost revenue
