Kohima: The sixth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) will commence on March 3 with the customary address by Governor La Ganesan.
The session, which will see discussions on policy matters, budgetary allocations, and legislative business, is scheduled to continue until March 8.
The state budget for the year 2025-2026 will be presented on March 6.
According to the ‘List of Business’ issued by the NLA Secretariat, Governor Ganesan will address the Assembly at 9:30 am, followed by obituary references.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will make an obituary reference to the passing of the former Prime Minister of India, the late Dr Manmohan Singh, while NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer will pay tribute to five former departed members — TA Ngullie, K Zungkun, Bendangangshi Ao, Mhavil Khieya, and Kejong Chang.
Following this, Advisor Imkong L Imchen will move a motion of thanks on the Governor’s address.
Discussion on the Governor’s address will take place on Tuesday, alongside the laying of various Annual Administrative and Assembly Committee Reports and the introduction of Government Bills and rules.
The second day will also witness the laying of the review of trends in receipts and expenditure, as well as the presentation of the Supplementary Demand for Grants for the year 2024-2025.
A recess is scheduled for March 5.
The session will resume on March 6 with discussions on matters of urgent public importance, consideration and passing of government bills, and the much-anticipated presentation of the state budget for 2025-26 by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the Minister in-charge of Finance.
The next session on March 7 will feature private members’ business, discussions on urgent public matters, and the general discussion on the 2025-26 budget.
On March 8, the NLA Session will include the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India’s report for Nagaland, discussions on voting on the Supplementary Demand for Grants for the year 2024-2025, and the introduction, consideration, and passing of the Nagaland Appropriation Bills.

The Speaker will also announce the constitution of various Financial and Non-Financial Committees of the Assembly and the Panel of Chairpersons for the year 2025-2026.
The Sixth Session of the 14th NLA will be adjourned sine die on Saturday.
