Imphal: Manipur police has arrested two persons in connection with the recent leak of the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) Social Science question paper.
The arrests follow an investigation launched after the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) Controller of Examination filed a formal complaint regarding the leak of the question paper, which was circulated online on February 25.
According to a press release from the Superintendent of Police for Cyber Crime, a case was registered at the Cyber Crime police station, prompting an investigation that involved questioning multiple individuals and tracing the source of the leak.
The inquiry revealed that the unauthorized distribution of the HSLCE question paper took place at Little Star English Higher Secondary School in Haokha.
The primary suspects have been identified as Samadram Meghachandra Singh, 46, a Social Science teacher and Assistant Officer-in-Charge (AOC) of the examination center, and Yumnam Ranjit Singh, 46, the school’s vice-president.
Both accused were arrested on Saturday after completing necessary legal formalities.
Mobile phones, suspected of facilitating the illegal distribution of the question paper, were seized from their possession.
Notably, the Manipur government had previously enacted the Prevention of Malpractices in High School Leaving Certificate and Higher Secondary Examination Act, 2024, in a bid to curb exam-related malpractices.
