Shillong: The newly elected members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will officially begin their term with an oath-taking ceremony on February 27 at the District Council Hall, Shillong.
The Governor of Meghalaya has summoned three key meetings to ensure the formation of the Council’s leadership and administration.
The first session, scheduled for Thursday at 11 am, will see the newly elected members of the Council take their oath or affirmation.
This will be followed by a meeting on February 28, at 11 am, for the election of the Council’s Chairman. Later that day, at 2 pm, the members will reconvene to elect the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Council.

The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has been tasked with administering the oath of office to the new members and overseeing the election of the Chairman.
The third meeting, for the election of the Chief Executive Member, will be presided over by the newly elected Chairman.
The elections to the KHADC witnessed a decisive victory for the Voice of the People Party (VPP), which secured 17 out of 29 seats, ensuring its dominance in the Council.
These upcoming sessions will formalise the leadership structure and pave the way for the Council’s administrative and legislative activities.
