Imphal: Manipur police arrested two members of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) for making a video threatening the security forces for arresting some village volunteers.
Moirangthem Thoiba (36) was arrested from Thamnapokpi in Bishnupur district, while Saikhom Lemburs Singh (31) was nabbed from Imphal East district, police said on Sunday.
Police said Moirangthem Thoiba is an active member of KCP (City Meitei) and also a deserter of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
According to police, Singh was involved in making the said unwarranted threat video against police commando.
“He is also a cadre of KCP (City Meitei) and has been involved in extortion and buying illegal arms for anti-social purposes,” police added.
Police also recovered a mobile phone and an ID card from his possession.
“It is hereby cautioned/ warned that anybody who makes/ shares/ circulates any such unfounded threats against police or security forces who are lawfully discharging their duties shall be strictly dealt with lawfully and have serious legal consequences,” Manipur police posted on official X handle.

In another operation, a combined team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles arrested two cadres of the banned United National Liberation Front (K).
Those arrested were identified as Wangkhem Rohit Singh (18) and Thangjam Nongan Meetei (18).
They were involved in extortion of money from shops and vehicles, police said. Police also recovered two mobile phones from their possession.
