Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik advocated for organic tea cultivation, emphasizing its sustainability and robust market demand.
During an interaction with small tea growers at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday, the governor urged tea growers to adopt natural farming practices, which improve product quality and meet the global consumer demand for eco-friendly, chemical-free products.
He reiterated the state’s dedication to bolstering its tea industry and establishing Arunachal Pradesh as a major force in the organic tea market. He also encouraged tea growers to utilize both traditional and digital marketing approaches.
Governor Parnaik encouraged them to create a unique brand identity, an eye-catching logo, eco-friendly packaging, and a tagline that showcases their dedication to organic and sustainable practices.
He also suggested developing a professional website with an integrated e-commerce platform to enable direct sales to consumers.
“Participation in national and international tea trade fairs is essential to connect with buyers and expand market presence,” he said.
The governor assured the representatives that the Arunachal Pradesh government would extend full support, including marketing assistance, provided the tea growers adhere to quality standards, adopt sustainable farming methods, and maintain high production standards.
Tadak Gaband, president of the Small Tea Growers’ Association, and tea grower Marpu Baja briefed the Governor on the challenges facing the state’s tea industry.
